The data covers all 77 Chicago neighborhoods and 198 suburbs in Cook, DuPage, Lake and Will counties, but not all of them qualified for this list.

Crain's looked only at those where at least 25 homes sold during the quarter, which eliminated more than one-third of the locations.
The Chicago Association of Realtors breaks its data for city neighborhoods into two categories—detached homes (or houses) and attached (or condos and townhouses).
Chicago houses:
Calumet Heights
Gage Park
West Ridge
Chicago condos and townhouses:
Grand Boulevard
Kenwood
Lincoln Square
Suburbs (both types of housing):
Antioch
Bartlett
Elk Grove Village
Elmwood Park
Forest Park
Glen Ellyn
Lake Bluff
Rolling Meadows
Skokie
Wheaton
Willowbrook
Wood Dale
For houses at either stage, "we're noticing that demand is high," said Keith Martin, a Kale Realty agent.
He represented a rehabbed brick bungalow on Jeffrey Boulevard that was under contract to a buyer in November 58 days after it went on the market.
The sale closed in late march at $200,000. The rehabber now has four more Calumet Heights houses in the pipeline, Martin said.
